Wednesday BBQ

On Wednesday night I had a BBQ with the gang to welcome Debbie & Alex back to the States after their trip to Europe. Debbie even made a cake. A cake that I am pretty sure was the only reason some of the guests showed up to the BBQ in the first place. Anyway, Debbie got sick and went to the Doctor and we are still trying to figure out why Alex didn't show up with the cake. My guess is that he went home and ate the whole thing himself! Ha!

One of my neighbors got satellite TV in their loft. The installation guy from DirecTv picked up my table and chairs, moved it out of their way and installed this monstrosity in the middle of the Skybar. And now I am at war with the owner because he for reasons unknown to me, is being a complete DICK about having it moved. I've reported him to the landlord who is supposedly forcing him to move it. Seriously, WTF? Who behaves that way? If it were me I would have been mortified and had it taken care of in one week. Of course I am always having to remind myself of what Mom told me: "That not everyone was raised right. And not everyone was raised right in CT." Clearly this neighbor was raised by truck stop prostitutes in a trailer park in some God awful fly-over state. But he will go down. You'll see, I'll win. I ALWAYS win.

After Mothers Day brunch on Sunday I went over to Anthony & Ryder's swank Greenwich home to check out the renovations they are constantly up to.

Mothers Day 2008

I went out to CT for Mothers Day brunch on Sunday morning. Followed by dessert and coffee and Glamma & Poppy's swank CT townhouse.

Glamma got Mom this ridiculous umbrella. We're all hoping its a gag gift because I would cross the street and walk on the other side and hang my head in shame if she used it! Ha!

Adam Green, Town Hall May 10, 2008

Molly & I went uptown to see Adam Green at the Town Hall in Times Square on Saturday night.
As is the norm now a days, Security lunged at me after I started taking pictures and asked me to stop. Annoying, but a lot nicer than being manhandled like I was at Terminal 5 for the Beastie Boys show.
So I didn't get any good shots because I was still trying to figure out what the best setting was to use with the lighting I was exposed to. I was trying not to use my flash......oh well.
Anyway, Adam Green put on a side splitting hysterical show. Molly and I had fourth row seats and we were in fits of laughter the whole time. At one point he stopped, looked at us and a said he loved people with a sense of humor. Molly's laugh is loud and very infectious. The whole area around us had no choice but to be in non-stop laughing fits. It was a great show. Here's what I came up with:

He now has a couple of back-up gospel singers in his band. He pointed out that the lovely lady on the left was of "Jamaican decent". ha ha:

Steve, Darren & Tim came over last night to grill in the skybar on another gorgeous spring night. It's going to rain all weekend so we had to take advantage. It was just burgers, beers and gossip and a little friendly pestering of Steve, who's going to be on diaper duty any day now.

Kitchen & closet mess

I'm almost finished remodelling my kitchen at the BDL. A project I've been working on the last couple of months on a trade. I did windows for Kendra & Tim and Tim ripped out and installed new cabinets in my kitchen.

Just need to get rid of the counter top and cabinet under the sink, but this won't happen until the fall:

There are some shelves that are going to go up between these two cabinets in the next couple of weeks and then this section will be done:

Then I can focus on this sad state of affairs. My closet. I bought it on Craigslist when I first moved into the loft and I had no closets, there weren't even any walls! It was only $20 and was supposed to be temporary until I found something better. Well it's been six years and being a complete clothes horse you can imagine how much of a nightmare this is for me. Most of my clothes are stored in plastic crates in our attic space above the bathroom. Everyone says "IKEA" but to get something functional for me it would cost over a thousand dollars. And lets be honest a closet system from Ikea is only one step up from a well designed cardboard box. Other than having some sort of custom woodmaker come in and build something, WHERE can I get some inexpensive, but well designed free standing closets? HELP!!!

(I love all of the Bergdorf bags falling out on the closet! Ha!)

New summer music

So I'm not going out, at ALL. It's all for a good reason though...I am going to Italy in a month with Victoria, Anthony & Ryder. The Amalfi Coast. Yeah a trip of a lifetime. In the meanwhile, I am saving all $$$ for shopping in Italy, duh.
I do have three shows, a graduation and random BBQ's going on this month, but other than that I am going to be making shit up and I'll try not to post to many pictures of myself sitting on the couch watching TV. Ha.

Anyway so MGMT is a my new favorite band from right here in fabulous Williamsburg and originally from Connecticut. These kids are all right. I cannot stop listening to them. Enjoy!

May BBQ

It was suppose to rain all weekend, so when the weather turned sunny and gorgeous on Sunday I decided to have a BBQ in the Darren-Fresh skybar, up on the roof of my building! It was such a gorgeous afternoon and the sunset was spectacular.

Last night after work I headed out to CT for my fathers birthday party. I arrived right on time for hor'dourves and champagne! Dad (Dallas) opened his gifts and then we sat down to an amazing dinner that Mom made (and Glamma too).

Ooooo he's going to be in trouble! AH AHA HA AHAHAA

Gail's Birthday Party

Gail celebrated her birthday on Sunday night at her apartment that she shares with Creepy Uncle Steve in glamourous Greenpoint. She had some friends over for pizza, Carvel ice-cream cake and canoli's! She is now due to give birth in 8 days and she looks fabulous!

Los Angeles River Yashica-D Photos & Molly

So on Saturday afternoon I decided to go up to Columbia University to develop pictures with Alexis at the schools darkroom. Alexis has keys so we went in after hours with a six pack of beer and some snacks. I thought I could get out of there by 10pm....HA! We were developing until almost 4 in the morning and I only printed 5 pictures. Now I remember why I love digital so much! Ha!
Anyway, the photos I developed all came from my Yashica-D camera from the 1950's. I took photos last summer in Williamsburg and most recently in the LA River in downtown Los Angeles. Here are the 6 photos that came out the best!

Molly in Williamsburg. This was the only photo I printed from the Williamsburg roll. There were others that were great but this was the absolute stand out. Definitely the best photo on the roll. Only to be compared with my photo of Jorge in the LA River.

Mini-Q 2008

Yesterday was SOOOO gorgeous in NYC I decided to have a mid-week Mini-Q in the Darren Fresh Skybar!

Debbie brought some homemade rhubarb sauce and a store bought (gasp) angel food cake. It was sooooo good together!

We still have a bit of construction to do, but it is coming along nicely!

Molly & Alexis came up with a great idea of making a tile mosaic on the outside of the new side table/flower box that Darren built. They used some old tiles that were up on the roof. Here they are smashing them into a million little pieces!

Hopefully we can get them up this weekend, but it is supposed to rain. Grrr.

Tuesday night Taco Chulo & M.

I went out to grab a bite to eat with Molly, Lexxie and Alice last night at Taco Chulo. Afterwards we stopped in around the corner at M to say hi to Geoff and May.

At one point Lexxie asked me to see my camera...I handed it over and the little sneak went in and deleted all of the pictures that I took of HER! Grrrrrr, she's punished! Claiming she was ugly. Yeah that's great. Don't you love it when the prettiest girl in the room tells you she's ugly? What must that make me? I don't know...a horror show?

They are filming Gossip Girl around the corner from my office again today. 51st & Madison at the Palace Hotel. I saw Dan Humphrey yesterday! So cute.

Molly's Birthday Party

Saturday night was Molly's birthday bash at the BDL. It started early with the Darren Fresh Skybar re-opening BBQ. It ended up getting a bit chilly, despite being 78 degrees all afternoon. Right after grilling with Grill Master Darren we went down to the BDL to celebrate the birth of Molly.
