February 23, 2008So I went to hang with Molly in the East Village tonight. That's where she lives. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE the EV, and there are some really great bars/restaurants/clubs there...BUT on the weekends, it is a nightmare. You have to avoid it like the plague, mind a few safe spots. Let me show you what happens. Here is me, at Molly's fab place. I won't even try to explain the artwork on the wall behind me, other than to say that the artist makes all of his work out of scraps from a futon factory in Georgia. Molly, note her records in the background (DJ Molly Blacke) Ok, so here is the EV on a Friday night. And well...you can see the difference New Jersey can have on the city.... I will give them credit for trying...these are Marc Jacob knock offs from about 4 seasons ago....: I wonder if she got this blouse at the airport in Vegas? I didn't even take a shower today...and I am so rocking The Queers punk rock Tee: Maybe if they did not clash so much it would be easier for them to blend into the wall: This my friends is a 101 crash course in what the "Bridge & Tunnel Crowd" is. Now you know. Stay on the Southside for the weekends. So. Much. Better. Ciao Ciao, Jocelyn February 23, 2008 03:10 AM CommentsI think I may have a solution. What New York needs is a really long deep recession. Crime needs to go up and the city needs to be scary again so all of these people will go home. So maybe I will vote Republican this election...some fool who will drive the economy right into the ground and bankrupt the country by continuing this long dragged out nonsense war. Something is seriously wrong when the Bible belt thinks it is safe to send their kids to live in NYC. Posted by: jocelyn at February 23, 2008 10:56 AM Hee hee at the Mayor Dinkins comment. I have to admit that I saw the (Zum Schneider?) pictures this morning in your Flickr and was sadly disappointed in the state of the East Village. Where did all the interesting freaks go? That said, I cannot deal with ZS on weekend nights, only weekdays when it is a lot less, I don't know, this. Posted by: deb at February 23, 2008 11:04 AM Those people at ZS weren't that bad...they were mostly German and nerdy, extremely inoffensive in my book...that place across the street from it was much, much worse. (What is it called? It is ON MY CORNER and I cannot remember what it is called.) I actually forgot that we were even there until about 4 hours after I got up today. I had blocked out the whole experience. I didn't want to go there in the first place, but Jocelyn made me. And I can't believe they even let me in, because I fell down on the floor as I was trying to hand my ID to the bouncer. But that is the kind of slimy place it is. They let in girls who are literally falling-down drunk. Then while Joc took pictures of tacky losers I sat in the corner sulking, wishing I was home in bed. But she got all those hilarious snapshots in about 5 minutes. The best/worst is the one of the three roided-out Jersey/L.I. boyz with the hair gel etc. To think that when I lived here 11 years ago, that same corner was a cracked-out no-man's-land that made Jersey kids shudder in fear... Posted by: Molly at February 23, 2008 04:24 PM oh dear, this is the funniest blog entry yet. Damn it, wish I had been there, I would have hit on one of those pink shirted douche bags just to get him to doing something totally nerdy for your camera. Oh well, still in freelance hell.
